Orn and Jessica Wilson
Quartz Mountain ceremony
I can not believe it’s been almost a year since I have written a blog. I guess that goes to show the rate of which I have been working the last year! It’s been crazy and fun and I probably could have easily shared 10 more blogs with you in that time.
But I’m about to go on vacation tomorrow and I have a spare 5 minutes and wanted to share this awesome adventure wedding I got to photograph back in August. Orn and Jessica are good friends of mine. If I were to describe their relationship I would say it’s spontaneous, full of adventures, full of laughter and a couple I truly see as best friends.
They chose Quartz Mountain as the place they wanted to say I do because they have been coming here for years to watch meteor showers. They make the two hour plus drive up a single lane dirt road where they either partially sleep in their car or set up camp to watch the shower in the darkest part of the night, in a place so far from city/ambient light and watch the mystery that is outer space. And often they then drive back down and go to work. I’d say they are living life to the fullest and also a little crazy. Kidding, I love how these two people experience life together.
Another story that always sticks out in my mind when thinking about their relationship is when Jess was driving home after a night out with the girls one summer night. She called Orn at 10 or 11pm and said, meet me at Seward Park right now. And without question he jumped in the car, met her and they both ran into the lake in their clothes or skinny dipping (who knows) and then packed up and drove home. She told me the next morning since I’d been previously with her that night and I was just speechless. I wasn’t sure if she was crazy or if I was completely jealous of what a fun, spontaneous and trusting relationship they had. I decided I was 100% just impressed and a little jealous. haha.
When Jess told me they wanted to have a small ceremony at Quartz I was ready for it. I was excited to see the place they had talked about for years and knew it was going to be so special for them and just as special to share it with their close friends and family. I give her credit, it was so much more complicated to plan a quick mountain wedding ceremony than imagined, but she pulled it off and it was beautiful. And she was beautiful.
They had a larger reception a month later and were able to share the images of the small ceremony with their bigger network and celebrate all over again. I’m so happy I got to be part of both experiences as they’ll remember both days forever.
Congrats Orn and Jess. I wish you a lifetime of love, laughter, adventures and happiness.
